Visa centres are officially authorized to accept, process and forward documents including consular fees to diplomatic missions and consular offices of the Russian Federation for further consideration from individuals and companies as well as travel agencies and also to prepare for picking up passports with visas ready. The Visa centers employees consult applicants on matters related to visa applications, the required set of documents for obtaining visa, procedure and terms of getting visa etc.
The final decision to grant or refuse visas lies with Russian diplomatic missions and consular offices.
The documents are handled to the Visa Center on a walk-in basis during the office hours, while a prior appointment is to be scheduled in order to submit visa documents directly to the Consular Section of the Embassy when foreign citizens apply for visa for themselves or on behalf of close relatives.
Also applications are submitted directly to the Consular Section of the Embassy when visas are to be issued for staff of the Swedish diplomatic mission or consular post in Russia, as well as for members of official delegations invited by Russian authorities.
Tourist agencies or bureaus are allowed to process visa applications on behalf of their clients only through the Russian Visa Center.
For its services the Visa Center will charge a fixed service fee of 315 SEK (495 SEK for express service) which entirely goes into its disposal. Service charge is not to be mixed up with the consular fee payable to the Russian diplomatic mission or consular office. The amount of the visa fee is established in accordance with Consular Tariff. Upon applying for a Russian visa through the Russian Visa Center, consular fee and service fee must be paid in full prior to it being submitted to the Russian Consulate for review.
